COSTING |
The cost of INSITEX profiled and textured concrete finishes
varies according to the texture type selected and the number of formliner re-uses.
Both these factors should be considered when estimating the quantity of formliner
required for a project. |
|
|
RE-USE OF FORMLINERS
|
The number
of re-uses of INSITEX varies from site-to-site and is dependent on a number of factors
including:-
4
Care, handling and storage of the formliners
4
Height and shape of the concrete surfaces
4
The repetitive nature of the textured areas
4
Texture to be used
Generally
for textures up to 3 metres high, four uses have been recorded and for textures 7
metres high an average of one or two uses.
Past experience over a wide range of civil engineering applications suggest an average of
two uses.
Labour cost for fixing and stripping INSITEX formliners will vary depending on
accessibility, quantities and operatives. An allowance should be made for fixing bevelled
wood strips, cutting to shape etc., where these are required. |

SITE
PRACTICE
|
In normal use the liners are panel-pinned to wood forms at
225mm centres down the overlapped edge joints. These are further sealed by adhesive
taping.
Approximately 8 no. panel pins and 2 metres of tape are required per square metre of
textured area. The optimum stripping time for structural grade OPC concrete is
approximately 24 hours. In appropriate conditions stripping times can be considerably
reduced. Stripping delays should be avoided or closely monitored due to colour
considerations.
The formliners may remain with the concrete after formwork stripping, to be peeled off as
a separate operation. The INSITEX formliner surface does not bond to concrete.
Formliners should extend from top to bottom of textured areas. Horizontal liner joints
should be avoided
(where short extensions to 7 metre high formliners are desired prior
discussion with the manufacturer is advisable).
Recommended chemical release agents should be used.
Full installation instructions and site practice recommendations are despatched with each
order to assist site operations. |
